    Head Start Committees 

There are several committees within Head Start that guide policies and procedures. Recommendations for change also have to be agreed upon by the other governing bodies: Board of Directors and Policy Council. Everyone needs to be equally represented and given opportunity to agree or disagree.

The Finance Committee's focus is to study and make recommendations to the HSYC Board and Policy Council with respect to ways and means of improving the financial condition and operation of the HSYC. They also, with an auditing firm, prepare and present to the Board annually, for its approval, a budget for the control of expenditures of money of the HSYC.

The Staff Development Committee is to serve as a two-way communication structure between administration staff and educators, advocates, and teachers, cooks and transportation team. The focus of this committee is to coordinate problem-solving and to make recommendations about day-to-day operations.

The Safety Committee members consist of a cross-representation of staff. It performs audits and trainings to ensure children and staff safety.

The Wellness Committee's main focus is the well-being of all internal staff members.

The Training Committee presents recommendations regarding upcoming trainings which would be appropriate for staff members.
