The educational goal is to develop each child's
potential for success, utilizing each parent as the primary educator and
influence upon the development of his/her child. Each child will be
encouraged to develop social, physical, and academic skills in order to
promote a positive self-image. The program will provide each child with
the opportunities to further develop his/her curiosity, to learn to work
independently, and to contribute as a member of a group to acquire
self-control. At HSYC, Creative Curriculum is used to provide the
best for your child.
Upon entry into the program, all children are screened
to determine existing skill levels in the areas of cognitive, motor,
language and articulation. In addition, the vision and hearing of all
children will be screened. Concerns are noted and necessary referrals
are made for further assessment. After screening, the information is
shared with the family. Parents and staff will discuss goals for the
child. If at anytime during the year you think your child might need
some extra help, like speech services, or if you have any questions,
please talk to your child's teacher.
An integral part of your child's program is the teacher
home visits, where your child's progress is discussed. The home visit is
also a link to social services and Family Advocate support. Parent
participation is encouraged in the program by volunteering in the
classroom, attending Parent Meetings, and Policy Council. All
information regarding the child is recorded in the child's file on a
regular basis.
The staff involved with your child meet weekly to share
concerns or progress and to make recommendations, identify resources for
the family, and to insure that follow-up happens in a timely manner.
All questions are welcomed; stay involved.
