JOB DESCRIPTIONS
POSITION TITLE: BUS DRIVER / TEACHER AIDE
RESPONSIBLE TO: TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR/TEACHER
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Assisting Teacher in carrying out daily classroom activities; provide safe and punctual transportation for program children to and from Head Start classes and field trips, as well as parents to special activities
STATUS: Part-time, Regular, Non-Exempt
DUTIES:
Assist Teacher and Assistant Teacher with daily routines and educational opportunities and necessary documentation, including weekly home base socialization experiences
Use a positive approach in guiding children
Participate in creating an attractive environment that is safe, healthful, and developmentally appropriate
May assist in developmental screenings, assessments, observations and related documentation
Attend center and staff meetings and training sessions as requested
Assist with food service as needed
Plan and maintain a bus route and schedule
Transport children to and from class in a timely and safe manner
Maintain accurate transportation and vehicle inspection records
Maintain assigned vehicle by keeping it clean, equipping it for emergencies and reporting any mechanical malfunction
Manage children on vehicle by use of positive guidance and by setting reasonable safe limits
Obtain service and repair of vehicle as requested
Accept other tasks as related to assigned duties
Record child observations/anecdotal records as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of high school or GED
Experience working with young children
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Possess First Aid card and tuberculosis clearance
Possess a valid Oregon School Bus Driver's permit or license or capacity to secure one and maintain a satisfactory driving record
Ability to relate positively with children and adults
Knowledge of vehicle safety, defensive driving and vehicle maintenance
Ability to travel to out-of-town training sessions and overnight meetings as required
Ability to work under stress and be flexible
Current enrollment in the Child Care Division Criminal History Registry
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
Assist Teacher in implementing daily program
Participate in weekly classroom planning sessions
Demonstrate positive guidance techniques with children
Participate in providing a safe and healthful environment on a daily basis
Maintain daily transportation records and submit as required
Demonstrate ability to work as a team member
Keep assigned vehicle clean and in a safe mechanical condition on a daily basis
Keep route sheet updated, as well as file changes with classrooms and office, and drive route as scheduled
Demonstrate positive guidance techniques with children at all times
Attend and become involved in staff meetings and activities
POSITION TITLE: RECEPTIONIST/DATA ENTRY SPECIALIST
RESPONSIBLE TO: OFFICE SPECIALIST
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Duties include but are not limited to: Providing office support, data entry, processing mail, filing and typing. In charge of greeting visitors and answer the telephone and reception. Word processing and other computer related duties.
Qualifications include: Knowledge of general office procedures, including the use of fax machines, copiers and other office equipment. Experience working with desktop computers and data entry. Must have excellent organizational skills, be a self-starter, have the ability to read and write well in English and Spanish, and work efficiently with numerous interruptions. Must be dependable, have good communication skills and be able to work with multiple supervisors.
BILINGUAL/ENGLISH – SPANISH REQUIRED
Full time, 40 hr/wk, September thru August
$10.29 - $11.97 per hour
