Head Start of Yamhill County Mental Health & Disabilities |

|
Head Start approaches mental health as being primary to the social competency of children and families. Integrated into all components of the program, mental health from a wellness perspective, as well as from a developmental approach, provides children and families the opportunity to learn preventative skills in anger management and developmental age appropriate skills in body awareness and self-esteem. While prevention is primary to the delivery of mental health services, intervention is also recognized as being of critical importance to children and families in need of individual counseling or in crisis. Parents can receive behavioral solutions for an individual child, a parent or through family counseling. An individualized plan is provided to help the child reach their potential. In addition to classroom experience and opportunities, parents may ask questions and provide information to teachers and staff. The goal is to make a positive difference in the child and the family. |
