Volunteering is essential to all Head Start programs throughout the United States. The success of the program depends upon active participation of parents and others in the community. Your knowledge, time and talent can all contribute to this effort.
By Volunteering, you will become acquainted with our Head Start program, see its strengths and goals, and help staff make it a fun learning experience for all. There are many ways that volunteers can contribute and each volunteer comes to the program with different experiences, skills, and talents. Each has a unique contribution to make.
Different Ways to Volunteer:
  • Classroom Aide
  • Bus Rider
  • Lunch Aide
  • Yard Work
  • Play Time
  • Home Projects
Some people only have an hour to contribute, some people can only help afternoons or evenings. Please contact your child's teacher or advocate to see how you could be involved with Head Start.

 Call 503-472-2000 for more information.

Some companies have a matching gift program for people who volunteer. You can potentially double your volunteer hours or gifts by checking to see if your place of employment supports this.
